Good&Co Team Dynamics User Guide

Welcome to Team Dynamics, powered by Good&Co! This user guide will teach you how to navigate each component of our platform and answer any questions you may have as you go along.

Let’s get to it!

How to Log In

In order to log into the Team Dynamics tool, first navigate your way to www.good.co. Here you will locate the Log In button on the top right-hand corner of the website’s main page (as shown below).

When you are ready to log into the Team Dynamics tool, simply click the Log In button and select the Team Dynamics option from the drop-down menu (see below).

Upon making this selection, a pop-up window will appear asking you to select your preferred method of logging in: Facebook, Google+ or email. Please choose whichever method you decide you would like to continue with.

Congratulations! You’re now logged in as a user of the Team Dynamics tool.

Creating Your First Team

After logging in for the first time, you will be prompted to create your first team. In the following portion of the User Guide, you will be shown how to create a team in a few different ways: manual input of team members, importing an existing team, inviting team members via email and inviting team members via an invitation link.

To start things off, let’s look at how to manually create your first team.

Creating a Team Manually

Upon logging into the Team Dynamics tool, you will be presented with a page which requests you to create your first team (as shown below).

You will automatically start under the Create Your Team option on the top left-hand side, where you are prompted to input:

  • Team Name

  • The Company Name

  • Team Category (see #2)

  • Select whether or not you are the leader of this team (see #3)

As you are going through and inputting your team information, please note that if you are not a member of this team you should uncheck the radio button assigned to “I am the team leader”.

By unchecking this button, you will be able to create a team without yourself included in it.

After having selected your team’s category, you will move on to another window that enables you to add members to a team. Now we will discuss the different methods of adding people to your team.

Creating a Team by Selecting from Existing Members

By typing in the name of the team member (see #4) in the search bar, you will be able to locate their profile within the Good&Co database. Following this, their profile will appear in the box below (see #5) where you can check the radio button to ensure they are added to the team. By selecting the Next button, you will advance to the final stage of the manual process.

Now that you have selected your team members, use this step to verify that the individuals showing up are in fact those you’ve selected. Upon confirmation that these profiles are in fact your team members, select the Confirm button (see #7) and you will have successfully added these members to your new team!

Importing an Existing Team

You may already be using our consumer application where you may have previously created a team. If so, you can import this team into the Team Dynamics platform.

By selecting Import Existing Teams on the top right-hand side (see #1), you can select which teams to import.

After you scroll through and locate the team that you would like to import into Team Dynamics, simply check the radio button next to the team name (see #2) and click the Import Teams button.

This next window will allow you to verify that the team(s) you’ve chosen are correct. Upon verification, simply press the Import button to initiate the team import.

For confirmation that your team has been imported, this final window will prompt you to look in your teams menu to ensure that team has imported properly.

At this time, you are free to either end the import process and click Done or you can choose to import more teams by selecting the Import More button.

Should you decide to import other teams, simply revert back to step one of this process (here in the User Guide) to get a step-by-step walkthrough.

Creating a Team via Email Invite

When adding members to your team, you may notice that some of those individuals do not have a profile in the Good&Co database yet, or there may be more than one profile with the same name. If you run into this, you can simply invite those individuals to join your team via an email invite. Initially, this process will look the same as it did when creating a team manually.

Instead of typing in the name of your team member and searching for them in the Good&Co database, you will instead click the envelope button (see #4) to signal that you would like to invite a member(s) via an email invitation.

After selecting this envelope button, the new window displayed allows you to type in multiple email addresses for the team members you want to add.

Simply input their email(s) in the text field (see #5) and then click on the Next button (see #6) when you’ve finished.

You will now find yourself in a window asking for you to verify that the email invitation(s) will be sent to the proper emails.

Upon verification, simply click the Confirm button and wait for your team members to accept your invite.

Creating a Team via Invite Links

You can also invite people to join your team by sending them a link.

After having input all of your team’s categorization information, you will move on to another window that allows you to add in the existing team members. Here is where the process changes slightly from the other methods of inviting team members.

Instead of typing in the name of your team member and searching for them in the Good&Co database, you will instead click the chain-link button (see #4) to signal that you would like to invite a member(s) via an invitation link.

After selecting this chain-link button, the new window displayed allows you to copy the invitation link URL, which can be sent to all individuals you would like to add to your team.

Simply click the Copy button (see #5) and you will have copied the URL link to send out to your team members.

Now that you have successfully created your team and invited your team members, you will now be brought to your Team Dynamics dashboard.

Team Dynamics Dashboard

Welcome to the Team Dynamics dashboard! Now that you’ve successfully created your first team, you unlocked the functionality to analyze your company culture, your team and how future hires will impact both.

This dashboard will allow you to:

  • Review the culture of your existing team view Team Profile

  • Understand your existing team members via Team Members

  • Take a quiz (relevant to your team) in order to more accurately define your team’s

culture by taking a Team Quiz

  • Create new job listings via Job Openings, which allow you to run candidate simulations

and understand how new hires will impact your team

Now that you have created your first team in Team Dynamics and have seen the dashboard, you may realize that you’ve forgotten to add in one of your team members.

Not a problem! You can also add in new team members within the Team Dynamics dashboard. Let’s give it a shot.

Adding Team Members via Team Dynamics Dashboard

As mentioned before, you don’t have to worry if you’ve forgotten to add in a team member throughout the Create a Team process. Once you are sitting inside the Team Dynamics dashboard, you can add in new members.

To do this, navigate to the Team Members box within the dashboard and click on the + button (see #1).

After selection of the + button, you will have a pop up window (see #2) that allows you to add team members via the following methods:

  • Manually search for them within the Good&Co database

  • Invite them via and email invitation*

  • Invite them via an invitation URL link*

*If you need help adding a member via one of these options, please refer back to the Creating a Team by Selecting People Already in the Database, Creating a Team via an Email Invite or the Creating a Team via Invite Links section above.

Congratulations! Now that you’ve successfully built out your team, you’re probably wondering how to take advantage of our hiring/candidate simulation functionality.

Let’s jump into it!

Creating a New Job

A key feature within Good&Co’s Team Dynamics is the hiring/candidate simulation functionality. The Job Openings feature allows you to create a new job position and add candidates to a simulation to understand how they will impact your existing team and company culture.

In order to take advantage of this feature, navigate to the Job Openings box within the Team Dynamics dashboard and click on the Create New button (see #1).

Upon the selection of this button, a window will pop up and prompt you to type in the name of the position you are looking to fill. Simply type in the name of the position in the text field box and click Save Job (see #2). If you have a PerfectProfile, a profile of your top performers, you may select the profile as well.

Adding Candidates to a Job Opening

Now that you have an open position, you’ll need to populate in candidates in order to fill the position.

There are two methods to import candidates to your open positions: an Add Candidate button in the box of the job opening screen and the + Add Candidates button at the top of the job opening screen.

I’ll walk you through both, but let’s start with the Add Candidate button.

Adding Candidates via Main Add Candidates

The first screen to show after you save your job opening will be as you see below. Here is where you can start to pull in candidates for your open position and run your impact simulation.

To add a candidate to this job opening, simply click on the Add Candidates button (see #1)

Upon selection, a window will appear (see #2) that allows you to pull in candidates via the following options:

  • Manually search for them within the Good&Co database

  • Invite them via and email invitation*

  • Invite them via an invitation URL link*

*If you need help adding a member via one of these options, please refer back to the Creating a Team by Selecting from Existing Members, Creating a Team via an Email Invite or the Creating a Team via Invite Links section above.

For this scenario, let’s assume you searched for your candidate (see #2) within the Good&Co database and selected to add their profile. After you’ve checked the radio button next to their name (see #3), click the Next button (see #4) to progress to further.

Finally, you will use this last step to verify that the candidate you’ve selected is in fact the person you want to add to your job opening. Upon verification, simply click the Confirm button (see #5) and the candidate will be pulled into your job opening.

Adding Candidates via + Add Candidates
If you wish to add another candidate after the step above, you will need to do so via the + Add

Candidates button at the top of the job opening screen (see #1).

Upon selection, a window will show (see #2) that allows you to pull in candidates via the following options:

  • Manually search for them within the Good&Co database

  • Invite them via and email invitation*

  • Invite them via an invitation URL link*

*If you need help adding a member via one of these options, please refer back to the Creating a Team via an Email Invite or the Creating a Team via Invite Links section above.

Candidate Impact Simulation Overview

Now that you’ve added in your candidates for your job opening, what’s next?

Great question! Now you get to see how the candidate(s) impact your company culture, existing team culture and analyze that impact quantitatively.

Let’s take a look.

Here you can see a lot of information relevant to your job opening and how the candidate(s) make an impact:

  1. This number is the Team FitScore. It represents the existing overall culture fit within your existing team.

  2. The filter button will allow you to filter your candidates based on your preferences of each.

  3. This rating button allows you to remember your preference for each candidate: Favorite, Maybe and Pass. The gray button represents someone as an unrated candidate.

  4. This signifies what the team persona will change to, should this candidate be hired. In some cases the candidate will have no impact on the overall culture of the team, while in other cases the candidate could change the culture significantly.

5. The FitScore with Manager column details how well each candidate fits with the team’s leader. It is a measure of how closely aligned in personality the manager and the candidate are.

6. This number details how well the candidate’s personality is a match to a PerfectProfileTM.* A PerfectProfileTM is a service offered by Good&Co that enables you to create a template of the common traits of Top Performers. It will show a lock icon if no PerfectProfileTM is applied to the job opening.

7. This number details how the candidate will impact the overall team fit (whether they increase it or decrease it). It shows how it would change the Team FitScore. In general, people who differ from the rest of the team in personality will lower the FitScore while people who are similar to the existing team might raise the FitScore. Whether this is good or bad depends on the context of the situation you are hiring for.

8. This number details how the candidate will impact the overall Team Variance (whether they increase it or decrease). The Team Variance represents the spread and distribution of personalities within the group. In some cases, where you want to hire people who are similar to your existing candidates, a lowered Team Variance might be good, while if you are looking for greater diversity in personality, a higher score would be better.

9. This allows you to view the candidate’s Good&Co database profile; this highlights their skills, professional experience and fit to you as the viewer.

10. You can get a Personality Guide for each candidate. This button allows you to download and review an in-depth, 10-page report on the candidate’s personality (based on their quiz input). The report includes more details about the candidate and suggested interview questions.

11. The “Spider Chart” allows you to compare the candidate’s overall personality to the team’s psychometric profile will look like if the candidate were to be hired.

*For this example, the PerfectProfileTM already existed. Please see the Adding PerfectProfileTM section to learn how to benchmark a candidate against this.

Adding PerfectProfileTM

If you are looking to hire a high volume of candidates for the same position, PerfectProfileTM will allow you to benchmark applicants against the strengths of your highest 5-10 existing employees in that specific role.

In order to add a PerfectProfileTM to your Candidate Impact simulation for your job opening, you have to click on the lock icon located underneath the PerfectProfileTM column header (see below).

After selecting this button, the following window will open allowing you to select any of your existing PerfectProfilesTM.

To add this into your Candidate Impact Simulation for your job opening simply check the radio button next to the name of the PerfectProfileTM you want to add and click the Confirm button (see below).

Archiving a Job Opening

After analyzing all of your candidates for this specific job opening and choosing the one you want to bring into your team, it’s time to archive this job opening.

In order to archive your job opening, navigate the top of your job opening screen where the job title is (see #1).

Once you have navigated to this location, hover over the gear icon and a menu will pop up with the option to Archive Job Opening.

Simply click on Archive Job Opening (see #2).

A pop up window will appear prompting you to make a selection of how you would like to move forward with your archive (see below).

For this scenario, we will assume you are bringing on a candidate within your current Candidate Impact Simulation. With this assumption, click on the first radio button.

Your final step in this process is to select which candidate you would like to designate as your successful candidate (the one who will be brought on to the team).

To do this, simply check the radio button next to the name of the appropriate candidate and the click the Add button (see below).

Finally, you will be presented with a pop up window informing you that your job opening has been archived and that the candidate (which you previously selected) has been added to you team (see below).

Congratulations on bringing on a new team member!
